Once Upon A Time 5x03 'Siege Perilous' Review

So this week I decided to test myself by waiting until the episode aired on UK Netflix to see if I could avoid spoilers. Surprisingly, I actually found out very little about the episode so it was a nice surprise! Of course, if you haven't seen the episode: spoilers ahead!!
Personally for me I think this was the best epsidoe of the season so far! I'm a huge Charming fan and I don't think we get enough of him outside of Snow (as much as I love her and love them together!) So it was really nice to see him having another episode for himself.
There was a lot of interesting stuff in this episode, so there's a lot to talk about! They won't be in the order of the episode I'm afraid, just the order I remember them in haha.
Firstly: Arthur. I want from being skeptical to liking him to absolutely hating him in the space of this episode! I was a little suspicious of him from the previous 2 episodes but I hadn't seen enough and then in this episode, he just did so many despicable things that I just really dislike him now (I think the actor is great though and he's a very interesting character. I don't think we're supposed to like him at this point). Especially when Lancelot (!!!!) showed up to tell Snow that Arthur is a villain. I don't know how Lancelot is alive and I hope they'll have a good explanation for that but I'm super excited to see more of Arthur. That poor Gilf guy (I believe that's his name) at the end there though!
Okay moving on from that, I just quickly wanted to mention Zelena. Now, I hate Zelena (as I believe we are supposed to) and I really dislike this baby plot (the fact that Robin himself has said twice now that it is not what he wanted makes me very uncomfortable) but I actually felt kind of sorry for her?!? And Regina was there talking about how many second chances Zelena has had and how she can't paint herself as the victim. I think that's a little unfair coming from Regina; I'm pretty sure she's on her second second second second second chance at this point (this is not trying to be hateful towards Regina; I'm just stating that she has had many second chances to get things right). Zelena is under the impression that the baby will be the only person to truly love her and that's just kind of sad. As much as I do not want her to be a mother, I do feel kinda bad for her. Which is something I never thought I'd say!
Third thing I also would like to mention is the shipping. Now I personally only ship one canon ship at this moment in time and that is Snowing but I'm taking my shipper goggles off to briefly mention Captain Swan and Outlaw Queen. Outlaw Queen is a quick thing since there wasn't too much of them in this episode. I feel like Robin should be able to tell her that he is happy that he is having a baby just not happy it's with Zelena. It's not that hard to comprehend but I do understand that it is indeed complicated. I also personally don't like the idea of Regina raising Zelena's baby buti also want Robin to be involved in the child's life so it gets a little confusing there too. Also just because I personally don't ship them doesn't mean I can't see the appeal. I'm not hating on any ship here, I'm just giving my opinion as objectively as I can.
Moving onto Captain Swan. Now I also don't ship them but if I did, I think I would be a little upset right now. Hook is there saying he doesn't love Emma. I know it is because she is the Dark One and he just can't deal with it. I get it completely. I just think it's a little harsh to go from loving someone to not loving them (although of course it can be argued that he does still love her, just not as the Dark One). So I hope you Captain Swan shippers out there aren't too disheartened by that whole thing. She also did kinda trick him too and keeps playing games. I'm super happy she woke up Rumple! I didn't think he'd be woken up this early in the deasobm season. Poor Belle not knowing where he is though. I do have to wonder if turning him into a hero will work. I'm intrigued at how a Dark One can make someone good so I'm interested to see how that will turn out.
Just coming back to Charming again since it was his ccentric. I thought he was awesome and productive going after the Toadstool. And he looked so adorable holding baby Neal! I don't think Arthur actually wanted him at the Round Table since he lied to him, but even so, I was very proud of him for getting the most prestigious seat! Charming is full of self-doubt and we saw that in this episode (he even mentioned it himself himself in Camelot and Storybrooke) so it's always great to see him achieve something great.
I think that's all for this episode. Definitely the best of this season so far in my opinion! Definitely looking forward to see what direction they take this in!
